Students got creative and designed their own paper airplanes, then tested them out to see which one could fly the farthest. They even compared their creations to a styrofoam glider. Guess what? Two 6th graders, Cody and Mason, tied for the record with their paper airplanes, each flying an impressive 46 feet! ✈️

Third grade students took part in measuring their winter vegetables such as spinach, kale, and cabbage during Greenhouse time with Mrs. Banks. 🌿🌱
Fifth graders enjoyed their trip to The Pink Palace Museum of Science & History. During their visit students were able to view a film in the planetarium, explore the museum, and participate in a shark dissection lab rotation. 🔬🌎
The sky is the limit in STEM classes with Mr. Jones. Students constructed and launched paper airplanes which teaches the manipulation of paper into 3-D objects and mathematical calculations of distance. 🛫🛬

Students in Ms. Waldrip's class were given a mission to save their Thanksgiving turkeys. They had to disguise their turkey so it would not get eaten on Thanksgiving!

Donnie Williams, a third-grade student, brought four pairs of shoes to give his fellow classmate, Sadie West, for her birthday. Donnie showed kindness and generosity and in response, Sadie showed her thankfulness.
Kindergarten had the best time experiencing their first ever STEM Day at MST!!!
In this opening unit during STEM Lab, students will begin to explore aeronautics by brainstorming what they know about air, air pressure, and things that fly. They will investigate what air can do when it is under pressure. To reinforce the concept of air pressure and dive into high and low pressure, students will examine how birds fly in this unit. Students will explore how the shape of a bird's wing creates differences in air pressure that lift the bird into the air. They will even get an understanding of taxidermy by examining a pheasant! How cool is that?!?!?!

Flying Pumpkins
In Ms. Miller's GT class, students created catapults to launch pumpkins. Students were given supplies and constructed their own catapults. The groups then competed to see whose catapult launched their pumpkins the farthest., and of course they had to pull out that tape measure to be exact!
We are still dreaming about how much good last week was! From Red Ribbon Week, to fall parties, to dress up days, and to all the STEM-azing fun we had!
