We are excited to announce that Mrs. Heather Goodwin has been selected as our 2022-2023 MST Teacher of the Year!
Mrs. Goodwin is our School Improvement Specialist. Through this role, Mrs. Goodwin has impacted every single student at MST this year. She works with small groups of students every single day to help them strengthen their reading and math skills. She has organized and implemented Peer Reader and Peer Math groups, our 6th Grade Jobs, this year's ACT Aspire Pep Rally. She has also made small group binders for every homeroom teacher and paraprofessional at our school so that they have the materials and resources on hand to help students during RISE and SHINE and WIN time.
There is nothing that Mrs. Goodwin cannot do and it is no surprise that she was selected! MST LOVES MRS. GOODWIN!

MST 6th grade students have jobs around the school each day. They earn Patriot Bucks for showing up and performing their jobs. Pictured are four students who work in the greenhouse each morning after breakfast. These students are learning skills for life and we are thankful for their help! 💐🌷🌹🥀

Fourth-graders investigated owl pellets for clues while also discovering various careers in biology. Students learned about orthopedic surgeons, archaeologists, paleontologists, ornithologists and zoologist/wildlife biologists. Students searched through their owl pellets to find out what the owl's diet consisted of whether it was rodent, shrew, mole or bird. They also learned about how the prey of an owl fits into the food chain.

Entergy visited our campus to help teach our students about energy and how we power the world we live in. Students got to see what happens if you touch powerlines, how fast electricity travels, how many volts are in our homes, who to call if you see powerlines down, and so much more. Thank you, Entergy, for teaching our students about electricity and safety!

Check out a few snapshots from our awards assemblies. We have loved celebrating our students and their accomplishments!!!

Sometimes we like to make learning phonics a little more hands-on! Mrs. Gilbert's homeroom got to use all of their senses when they practiced their phonics lessons with shaving cream. Students practiced their skills and had a great time doing it!

Higginbotham Family Dental visited MST to speak with our 4th graders. HFD shared with our students about taking care of their teeth and gums. All fourth-grade students received a toothbrush and toothpaste from the special visitors. HFD also brought a very special guest with them to greet our students. Thank you, Higginbotham Family Dental, for investing in our students!
