Food giveaway

The Marion School District, Dominion World Outreach Ministries, and the Foodbank of Northeast Arkansas once again joined forces Saturday, February 6, to show support for families in the Marion community.

In total, more than 1,200 boxes of food were distributed during the Community Food Giveaway. Each family received a pre-packaged box of meat and produce and a gallon of milk. Items were made available to any family who showed up at the Marion Patriot Arena, regardless of income level.

Funding for the program was through the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program, funded by the United States Department of Agriculture.

More than 30 volunteers from Dominion World Outreach and the Marion School District distributed the boxes, which were gone in about two hours.

This was the third Community Food Giveaway held by the partnering organizations. In December, 560 boxes of food were distributed to community members; in October, 400 boxes were distributed.
