In accordance with state guidelines, special education records must be disposed of six (6) years after a student is dismissed from services, graduates, is found ineligible, or when the records are no longer needed to make educational decisions.
Based on these guidelines, the Marion School District will begin the disposal of special education records on June 26, 2026, for students who graduated, transferred to another district, or exited special education services during the 2020–2021 school year.
Parents/guardians have the right to review and request copies of these records prior to their disposal. Students who are 18 years of age or older also have the right to review and/or obtain copies of their records.
Any parent/guardian or former student wishing to review or obtain copies of these records should contact the Marion Special Education Office at 870-739-5100 before June 26, 2026.
Please note: These are not permanent student records. The records scheduled for disposal consist only of special education due process documentation and related records.
