Friday night Marion was honored to celebrate Marion Math, Science and Technology Magnet School’s success in the America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education grant program.  The America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education program, sponsored by the Bayer Fund, partners with farmers to nominate their local school district to apply for STEM grants through the program. Since 2011, the program has given over $18 million to more than 1,000 rural public school districts. Friday night, Marion Math, Science and Technology Magnet School and the Marion School District was awarded a $ 25,000.00 grant through America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education program, which helps farmers support their local rural public school districts. Thanks to our farmer nominations and an excellent application, Marion School District will be able to use this grant to purchase much needed materials and supplies for the new state of the art greenhouse that is located on the campus of Marion Math, Science and Technology Magnet School. James Boney, who represents the Bayer Fund and the America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education program, presented the $ 25,000.00 award to our school. Accepting the award on behalf of the Marion School District were Dr. Glen Fenter, Superintendent - Julie Coveny, Director of Federal Programs - Ali Weimer, Principal at Marion Math, Science and Technology Magnet School and Shannon Banks, MST’s School Garden Educator and Coordinator. MSD celebrated and recognized the farmers that nominated Marion School District for the grant. MSD thanks the individuals who put together a great application!  Your hard work helped secure this $25,000.00 grant!
