CAREER ORIENTATION PORTFOLIO/FOLDER
What is the Career Orientation Portfolio?
The Career Orientation Portfolio is a folder that includes work done in Career Orientation that will be counted as a participation grade and your Journal entries. It is the largest grade you will receive in this class and it will greatly affect your grade. There will be a portfolio chart and a journal chart that informs you of what should be in your portfolio. If you are absent, you must make up the journal entry and make sure to get work from the tray. You will complete a journal entry everyday except on test days.
What is the purpose of the Portfolio?
The purpose of the Portfolio is to organize your work in a way that will benefit you in this class. It will be required as a grade and it will stay in the classroom at all times. It is a way to minimize incidents of lost papers or journal entries.
What do I need to buy?
You will need notebook paper for the folder and a folder that can be purchased from me or a store. You must get the color assigned to your class period and a folder with prongs!
How will my portfolio be graded?
You will be given approximately 150 points for your portfolio at the end semester. You will also receive 1 surprise portfolio checks that will be worth 50 points each.
The following criteria will be used to grade your portfolio:
50 points for having 3-5 COMPLETE sentences per journal entry (make sure to capitalize each sentence and use punctuation)
50 points for following the format and writing the question per entry
50 points for having all participation projects and worksheets in your portfolio
How do I keep up with what is required to be put into the portfolio?
IF THE ASSIGNMENT ON THE BOARD SAYS “TI”, YOU MUST TURN IT IN TO THE WHITE BOX. IF IT SAYS “P” YOU MAY PUT IT IN YOUR PORTFOLIO FOLDER. There is also a chart with the Journal entries in order and on which date they were given. If you miss a day, it is your responsibility to get the worksheet from the table and complete it. I will also list all assignments on the board and let you know if you should turn it in or put the work in your portfolio folder. Remember there will be a chart that tells you which worksheets/work will be put in your portfolio folder. If it is not on that chart, then you should turn it in.
What should I do if I lose my portfolio or requirements?
Your portfolio will be kept in the classroom, so you should not lose your portfolio. It is your responsibility to do assignments and put them in your portfolio if they are participation grades. You can get one of your classmate’s participation worksheets and copy them to put in your portfolio. Remember: If you are absent and you do not ask me for the worksheet or get it from the black tray on the day you return to school, you will not be able to ask for it later.
Will I be able to pass Career Orientation without a Portfolio?
NO!!!
KEEP THIS SHEET IN YOUR PORTFOLIO, SO THAT YOU CAN REFER BACK TO IT WHEN NEEDED.
