Career Orientation is a class designed to introduce 8th grade students to the world of work. It will help the student get oriented with their personal interests, values, personality type, aptitudes, and learning style, which will help determine their optimum field of work. Students will learn how to set goals and make plans for high school, college, career, and their desired lifestyle. They will also research careers and tentatively choose a career plan.

Career Action Plan (CAP) portfolio in coordination with CAP/advisory
Career Orientation class folder
Daily assignments & homework projects
Unit quizzes & end-of-course exam
Research Including:

Occupational research using computer internet resources
Career magazines & career videos
Projects Include:
Personality License Plates
Personality Career Match
Who am I? project
Decision making money Project
Library Research
Pizza Box/Poster Project
Career Cluster Projects- 1 per week

2. A FOLDER OR BINDER TO USE IN CLASS AND
TAKE HOME TO KEEP WORKSHEETS, PROJECT GUIDELINES, AND STUDY GUIDES IN. (to be turned in on Friday, August 24 for a grade)
