Senior Education Practicum

Course Descriptions
Educational Methods and Assessment   .5 credit
This semester course emphasizes models of instruction, concepts of measurement, and skills of assessment to enhance learner achievement.  Students plan and practice a variety of teaching strategies in a classroom lab environment, using the Arkansas Frameworks as a basis for content standards and assessment methods. Students document rubric development, research skills, reflective practice, and interactive communication in professional portfolios.
Educational Technology   .5 credit
This semester course introduces computer applications for use in any classroom or training setting. A lab environment allows students to attain competency in word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, presentation software, Internet/web page utilization, and electronic mail to impact learner achievement.  A portfolio of projects documents mastery of the various applications.

Senior Education Practicum   1 credit
This class is the culminating opportunity in a career program in the field of education and training. Students synthesize learning as they engage in at least 20 hours of observation at all levels and in all areas of professional education. Students also plan and present lessons to demonstrate effective teaching methods. They document and reflect on these experiences in their professional portfolios.
