Choir Concert on Monday, March 1, at the Marion United Methodist Church.
This concert serves as a "warm-up" for our Choral Performance Assessment which is in Jonesboro on March 5th. The concert will begin Monday at 7:00pm. The jr. high choirs and MHS choirs will be performing music to be sung at CPA. Les Chanteusses will sing "Sing a Song of Sixpence" featuring MJ Payne and Shawna Gardner on flute and Nicole Barnes on piano. Their second piece is "Ave Maria" composed by Lazlo Halmas, a 20th cenutry Hungarian composer. They will finish with "A Girl's Garden" by Randall Thompson. Bella Voci will sing two pieces. The first is a setting of the Latin Mass text "Kyrie Eleison" by Peoples (yes, I do compose music also) and their second selection will be "Moon Song" by Missouri composer Eugene Butler. Musica
di Vita will begin their portion of the program with 20th century composeer Egil Hovland's "The Glory of the Father." They will next perform "Uns ist ein Kind geboren" from CANTATA #142 by JS Bach. They will close the concert with a beautiful setting of a Spanish text piece, "Esto Les Digo."
