General Information

Dear Parents and Students,

I would like to welcome you to my English/Language Arts class.  I hope all students will have a productive school year.  Knowing a teacher’s expectation is an important step to success in any classroom.  This letter is to inform you of my classroom policies and procedures.

I do have high expectations for my students because I know they are each capable.  I will do everything I can to ensure a safe and secure learning environment.  Student and teacher responsibility and respect are two crucial aspects for a successful learning experience.

We will work every day in my class, and students will occasionally have work that must be completed at home.  I will keep a class set of textbooks in my room so that students will not have to transport texts back and forth to school.

Literacy Lab is another important aspect to my classroom.  Students will have access to a variety of young-adult and teen readings – and will be expected to read during provided time in my class and during their personal time away from school.  Reading is a crucial aspect to success not only in school, but also in life.

We will also spend time preparing for the IOWA Test which will be administered during the spring.  This test is an important milestone helping us to gauge your student’s academic progress.  Many of our activities will encourage their educational development.

I can be reached at Marion Junior High during my planning period (second period – 8:55-9:45 a.m.) or after school.  You may also leave a message with the secretary, send an email, or send a note by your child.

I am looking forward to a great year!

Thank you,

Glenn Hudspeth
