If a student comes to the library during class time or at lunch, he/she must have a teacher’s pass. The library is open after school until 3:30 p.m.  No teacher’s pass is required.

Students are welcome to borrow up to two books at a time.  The loan period for each book is two weeks.  A book can be renewed if there are no holds on the book.

Computers are available for student use in the library.  These computers and the printer are to be used for research and academic purposes.  Caution:  Inappropriate use of computers will result in loss of privileges.

Basic Steps To Follow for Research

1.    Define the problem you wish to solve or question you wish to answer

2.    Develop an outline or plan for researching your topic/question

3.    Decide what sources you can use.   Note:  Your teacher may require specific types and/or a number of sources to be used.

4.    Locate your sources

5.    Begin to read, print, make notes as well as document sources

6.    Organize your data based on your outline or research plan

7.    Write your paper or complete your assignment using the data gathered

8.    Review and check yourself:  How well did you do?  How could you improve for your next assignment?

TWO CITATION MAKER SITES:
Before using the MLA Secondary Citation Maker from the Oregon School Library Information System, you should be aware of the following:

1.  This citation maker is currently upgrading from the 6th edition of the MLA Handbook to the 7th edition.  If your teacher specifies the 7th edition, you will need to check your citations against the 7th edition.

2.  This citation maker creates individual citations, not a Works Cited page.  You are responsible for titling, formatting, and alphabetizing your Works Cited page.

3.  Using a citation generator is like using a spell checker:  you should always check what the computer does for you to make sure it is correct.

4.  Your citations will not be saved between sessions.  Be sure to cut and paste into a Word document and to save that document.

To use the MLA Secondary Citation Maker, please click here.

You may click here for another helpful tool for creating your bibliography or Works Cited page.   Easybib.com is very useful!
