How to be a Difference Maker
Last year, MJHS created a new award program to honor students who make a positive difference in their school. One ninth grade student and one eighth grade student are chosen each month beginning in September and ending in May. This program is trying to encourage students to display “random acts of kindness” which would ultimately improve the morale of the student body. Students are chosen based on the following criteria: 1. Student must NOT have any discipline referrals during the month for which he or she is being nominated. 2. Student must NOT have been observed being unkind or inconsiderate to others (talking negatively about another person, putting another person down, making fun of someone, backstabbing, etc.) 3. The nominating faculty or staff member should have observed at least
one instance of the nominated student making a positive difference in another student’s life (helping a student who needs help; befriending a new student, speaking works of encouragement etc.)
