MHS ACT/SAT Code 041-560 MARION HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE 2011-2012                          Name of Scholarship                      General Information Deadline                                                         College and University Scholarships      These scholarships are offered by the colleges and universities and have different requirements.  Check with the individual colleges or universities for their applications and requirements.  Some applications are available in the guidance office and many are available on-line at the college websites. Varies according to the university and the particular scholarship. Gates Millennium Scholarship Students are eligilbe for this scholarship if they are African American, American Indian, Asian Pacific Isander American, or Hispanic American.  They must be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the US and have attained a cumulative gpa of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 schale.  They must demonstrate leadership abilities and meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria.  The application and more information can be found at www.gmsp.org. January 11, 2012 Wendy's High School Neisman Scholarship Applicants for this scholarship must participate in at least one sport and show leadership skills at school and in the community.  To apply, go to www.wendyheisman.com.   October 2, 2011 AES Engineers Scholarship Applicants for these $500 scholarships are required to write an essay.  More information can be foound at http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm. October 7, 2011 Arkansas Alumni Scholarships Applicant must be an incoming freshman to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, have a 3.60 gpa, and an ACT score of at least 24.  Applicants do not need to be related to a University of Arkansas graduate.  The application is available at www.arkansasalumni.org/scholarships. December 1 -priority February 1 - final Coca-Cola Scholarship Applicants must demonstrate leadership, commitment to community, and academic achievement.  For application information, go to www.coca-colascholars.org.  /click APPLY ON-LINE, then FOUR YEAR. October 31, 2011 Horatio Alger Scholarship Applicants must be seniors who plan to pursue a bachelor's degee at an accredited institution.  They must show critical financial need and exhibit integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.  In addition, they must have at least a 2.0 grade point average and be involved in co-curricular and community service activities.  For an application, go to www.horatioalger.org/scholarships. October 30, 2011 BigSun Scholarship This $500 scholarship is offered to an athlete.  Go to http://www.bigsunathletics.com  to apply. June 22, 2012 AXA Achievement Scholarship For more information about these $10,000 and $25,000 scholarships, go to www.axa-achievement.com. December 1, 2011 AXA Achievement Community Scholarship For more information about these $2000 scholarships, go to www.axa-achievement.com. February 1, 2012 Hino Motors Manufacturing Scholarship Applicants must be high school seniors with a minimum ACT of 19 and a cumulative gpa of 3.0 or better.  The minimum ACT and gpa requirements will be waived for high school students graduating with a Certificate of Proficiency in Advanced Manufacturing through MSCC with a 3.0 in those courses.  The applicant must be seeking a degree in manufacturing or a related manufacturing degree at the two-year level and a subsequent degree in science, engineering, technology or math at the four year level.  Applications are available in the counselor's office. February 1, 2012 American Legion Coudret Trust Scholarship Applicants must be children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren of American Legionnaires of two or more consecutive years membership.  Applications are available in the counselor's office. March 15, 2012 Arkansas Public Health Association Scholarship Applicants must be enrolled, or have plans to enroll in a field of public health, have at least a 2.5 grade point average, and demonstrate financial need.  Applications are available in the counselor's office. March 16, 2012 KFC Colonel's Scholars Applicants must earn a minimum high school gpa of 2.75, plan to pursue a bachelor's degree, enter a public college or university in their state of residency, and demonstrate financial need.  Applications will be online started on December 1 at www.fkcscholars.org. February 8, 2012 R. Preston Woodruff, Jr. Scholarship This scholarship starts as a random drawing.  Those applicants whose names are drawn will then be required to submit an essay.  For the rules and also the application, go to www.asla.info/CollegePlanning/woodruffscholarship. April 1, 2012 US Bank Scholarship US Bank gives forty $1000 scholarships that are awarded in a random drawing.  Go to usbank.com/scholarship. March 2012 Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Information of this $1000 scholarship can be found at http://www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm. June 15, 2012 BK Scholars For information on the Burger King scholarships, go to http://www.haveityourwayfoundation.org/bksp_scholarship_eligibility.html. January 10, 2012 Alpha Chi Chapter Vikette Society 2012 Book Scholarship Applicants for this scholarship must be female, have a minimum 2.5 grade point average, and plan to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.  Applications are available in the counselors office. March 11, 2012 Cargill Community Scholarship Applications for these $1000 scholarships can be found at www.cargill.com (keyword: scholarship) and at www.ffa.org. February 15, 2012 USDA/18090 National Scholarship Applicants for these scholarships must be planning to attend one of the eighteen 1890 historically black land-grant universities ( University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is the only one in Arkansas).  A minimum 3.0 gpa and 21 ACT is required.  For an application, go to www.usda.gov/1890programs.xml. February 1, 2012 State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship Twenty six recipients will receive a $2500 award.    Go to https://www.scholarshipamerica.org/statefarmgoodneightborscholarship/. Only first 360 applications accepted. University Science Scholars Program at University of Arkansas at Little Rock These scholarships will be awarded to talented and financially needy students who are interested in majoring in biology, chemistry, and earth sciences.  More information and applications forms are available on http://www.ualr.edu/sciencescholarship. February 1, 2012 UCA Academic Scholarships Appplicants must have an ACT of at least 23 and 3.25 grade point average.  Students must be fully admitted.  There is no separate application for the scholarship - just the admission packet. February 1, 2012 UCA Privately Funded Scholarships There are 37 privately funded scholarships that are available to incoming freshmen only.  There is no separate application but students must have completed the application process by the dealine. March 9, 2012 UCA Foundation scholarships Theses scholarships will be available by January 15 at www.uca.edu/go/foundationscholarships. Deadlines will vary Buick Achievers Scholarship For information, go to www.buickachievers.com. February 29, 2012 AES Engineers Scholarship Information about this $500 scholarship can be found at http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm. October 5. 2012 Windgate Scholarship This scholarship is available to all students who plan to major in art at UCA.  Applications are available in the counselors office.  This application requires extensive work so do not wait until the deadline to apply. March 16, 2012 Crittenden County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship This scholarship is for a student who intends to enter the teaching profession.  To apply, the student must have at least a 2.5 overall gpa.  A Marion student should get this scholarship this year.  Applications are available in the counselors office. February 16, 2012 Scholarships for students with spinal cord injuries or disabilities The scholarship opportunities are available to those who have spinal cord injuries, spia bifida, or transverse myelitis.  For more information, go to www.180medical.com/scholarships. Unavailable Arkansas Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Scholarship These scholarships will be awarded to students who plan to major in architecture of construction-related engineering.  Applications are available in the counselors office. March 30, 2012 Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute Scholarship Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0, show financial need, take the ASSET test, and have a vocational goal.  Applications are available in the counselors office. April 30, 2012 Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Scholarship Two $500 scholarships will be given to graduating seniors in Crittenden County.  Applicants must have a minimum of 19 on the ACT and a 2.5 cumulative gpa.  Applications are available in the counselors office. April 1, 2012 Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship This $500 scholarship will go to a female who plans to be a teacher.  Applications are available in the counselors office.   April 1, 2012 Esperanza Bonanza Scholarship These scholarships will be awarded to local seniors.  Applications are available in the counselors office.   April 19, 2012 AASFAA Scholarship These $500 scholarships will be awarded by the Arkansas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators.  Applicants must be enrolled as at least a half time student and must be pursuing a degree.  Applications are available in the counselors office.  Winners will be chosen by random drawing. April 1, 2012 2012 Ernest Whitelaw-Don Kinney Scholarship awarded by the American Indian Center of Arkansas In order to apply for this scholarship, the applicant must show Indian documentation (CDIB card) from a federally recognized tribe.  The application is available at www.arindianctr.org. April 10, 2012 ASBA Educational Foundation Scholarship Applicants for this scholarship must be sons or daughters of current school board members.  Applications are available in the counselors office. April 1, 2012
