Students at Avondale Marion Intermediate and Elementary Schools celebrated a milestone last week when the collectively reached the 100th day of school. Youngsters in Becky Cox’s class at AES collected pennies to reach 100 and then cashed them in for a shopping spree at a local dollar store and a pizza party that afternoon. More youngsters at AES dressed as centenarians. Even the teachers got into the spirit of the day. At MES kids decorated hats with 100 safety pins, google eyes, pipe cleaners, cotton balls, stickers or just bedazzled their headgear with sparkling “jewels.” Not to be left out, students at MIS enjoyed the day wearing flannel.
